Text on My Work by Hubert Nitsch, Art Historian and Curator
17 September 2026 · Announcement
My sincere gratitude to Hubert Nitsch, Curator and Art Historian at Art Pastoral Care, Diocese of Linz, for his insightful text on my work, written on the occasion of the opening of Seventyfive at Gallery der Stadt Traun.
At its centre, Catholicism celebrates a mystery. Mystery is sometimes also a central motif in art, when the invisible is contained within the visible image. When a new world is created through artistic means—the use of light, the interweaving of images and materials, and the composition of images—a process of re-creation takes place. Re-creation carries innovation within it, something inherent to every good work of art. For those who do not wish to analyse a work of art, innovation can also be understood as a form of poetry. Those who do not read poetry every day should at least have a mysterious image hanging on their wall.
